January 2011 BJP

My January piece is finally done though I didn't go ga-ga with it. This is my first year with the BJP... and after much contemplation, I decided to go with a "random" sampler block theme.
My initial plan was to use this quilt top (acquired from a dear friend Linda, who was a prolific quilter before she discovered beading) for my 2011 blocks but with the lovely splash of colors in it, I'm having a second thought.
My blocks for the entire 2011 will come from these stabilized square and round foundations... or perhaps others shapes as well. The squares are 2"x2" while the rounds are almost 2" diameter.
Happy beading all!

  1. Your Jan. BJP is VERY nice! And I think it would look good and compliment the quilt. I know it might be hard to 'cover' up your friends quilt but appears your placements might just work out. Keep it in the back of your mind..you can always set your blocks on canvas or other media.

  3. I like the colors! They are two of my favorites and go well together, not to mention they will complement the quilt. Reserve having second thoughts on doing the quilt. I'm betting you will like it more later. It would be lovely!

  5. Oh I think that's a brilliant idea! You'll have to just see how it goes and whether they all look good together when you've got a few more done, but I'm betting it will be spectacular :-)

  6. Thanks for your comments ladies - they're very much appreciated. I've been ramaging my scrap fabbies again to make more blocks that (I hope) would complement the quilt... just in case, I'll proceed on my initial plan!

  7. I do like the idea of "setting" the finished works into something - I'd actually had a quilt in mind when deciding on what to make this year.

  8. all my favorite colors! it's wonderful! I've seen the quilt pattern before - she did a lovely job on choosing colors.

I can understand your hesitation, but as cyndi said - wait and see. it's early, no need to commit at this point. or you could tell her you need another quilt to set your blocks on!
